WEEK ONE GAME SUMMARY

MINNESOTA VIKINGS AT TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

The Buccaneers put pressure on Steve Dils throughout the entire game sacking him three times while returning two of the three interceptions thrown by Dils for touchdowns. The Bucs ground game was in mid season form as they rushed 52 times for 228 yards and 2 touchdowns. James Wilder lead the charge running 18 times for 68 yards and the two scores.

DALLAS COWBOYS AT WASHINGTON REDSKINS

The Redskins upset the Cowboys in front of 45,000 plus at RFK stadium. The Redskins over came three first half interceptions thrown by Joe Theismann to rally to beat the Cowboys 24-16. Second year player Art Monk who looks like he might have a bust in Canton someday caught 4 passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns including the game winner that went 72 yards with the Skins trailing in the 4th quarter 16-14. The crippling blow to the Cowboys was losing All-Pro running back Tony Dorsett who tweaked a hamstring in the 4th quarter and did not return.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS AT PITTSBURGH STEELERS

Three Rivers stadium was sold out for the 74th consecutive time; its beloved Pittsburgh Steelers fell to the Kansas City Chiefs 31-16. The Chiefs built a 31-6 lead early into the 4th quarter on two Bill Kenney touchdown passes and rookie running back Joe Delaney ran 19 times for 82 yards and a score. Delaney also pulled in a 4yd TD pass from Kenney. The Steelers struggled to get going offensively early and when they finally did it was too late. Franco Harris ran for 80 yards with one run being a 26 yard touch down which gave the Steelers their only lead of the game. Midway through the 4th quarter Terry Bradshaw found Lynn Swann on a long 57 yard TD pass. It was too little too late in the 15 point defeat.

This site will be dedicated to my APBA Football replays. First up will be the 1981 season. I will replay the following teams the Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Diego Chargers, Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers. Each team won it's division except for the Steelers but since I'm a die hard Steeler fan I will be playing their season as well.
